Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a dive while being completely alone. Photographers often look for these types of conditions, waiting for the perfect moment or photo. Obviously, not diving with a buddy requires a type of special preparation and precautions and it is much more restrictive than diving with a partner.
This specialty is intended to teach you the protocols and procedures before, during and after an Independent Dive.
