Recreational Dive Training - Begin Diving

Experience a new world by learning to dive and experience the thrill of discovering underwater volcanic landscapes thriving with life. The rich and varied marine environment of Lanzarote is open to you when you learn to dive and you can also experience the tranquillity of being underwater. Learning to dive is a great way to meet new people and take up a hobby that can be undertaken by everyone from 10 years old to 70 plus.

Why Discover Scuba Diving?
The Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) programme is an ideal way for you to experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of an instructor in pool or pool-like conditions. During your course, you'll master a number of basic diving concepts and scuba skills and experience the thrill of diving in open water.

As soon as you Discover Scuba Diving, you're on your way to an internationally recognised certification. That's because you will learn some of the basic skills used in the Open Water Diver course during your Discover Scuba Diving adventure. If you and your instructor elect to practice these skills, they can be credited toward the Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certifications. At Rubicon Diving we also offer the incentive that, if after your discover scuba diving experience, you elect to carry on and undertake the Open Water course within the following 12 months we will subtract the cost of the DSD from the cost of your Open Water Course.

The Discover Scuba Diving experience costs €85 (refundable if you choose to take the Open Water Course) and is available every afternoon (except Sundays) at Rubicon Diving.

The Scuba Diver course is an entry level certification that is a subprogram of the Open Water Diver qualification. The Scuba Diver Course is perfect for those people on holiday who want to learn to dive but only have limited time available. Throughout the Scuba Diver course you'll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including the use of dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing pool dives, knowledge development sessions and making two open water dives.

Once you have your Scuba Diver certification you can dive under the direct supervision of a Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher professional on your holiday or dive trip. In addition on your next holiday, or back home, you can continue with your dive training and upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water.

The Scuba Diver Course can be completed in one and half to two and costs €350.

The Open Water Diver course is the most popular dive programme in the world and Rubicon Diving is an ideal place for you to gain this internationally recognised qualification! During your Open Water you'll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including the use dive equipment and dive techniques. You become an Open Water Diver by completing five confined water dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water dives.

Once you are a certified Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional anywhere in the world. If you find that you love scuba diving, as many people do, you can choose to continue your dive training and progress to become an Advanced Open Water diver or more.
